SciFlies is a new system for funding science through a micro donation model that encourages and motivates the general public to participate in the process. Our organization, through its grassroots approach, showcases vetted and qualified research projects from across all fields of scientific inquiry, allowing anyone, anywhere to directly support research they care about.  We stand apart from other non-profits, because our organization does not take a percentage of the donations directed to these research projects. Unlike other non-profits, donors can watch their donations build and gain momentum with the goal of “Making Science Happen”.  

Since we do not take a percentage of contributions, we rely on maintaining our organization through Corporate Sponsors, Philanthropists and our Tip Jar.  Because of our model, we anticipate a shift in how science funding happens, from largely government- driven to a participatory model where the general public is directly involved.   As a result, science and science research will become more understandable and user friendly as citizens have the opportunity to invest in the research of a favorite scientist or invest in research that will make their scientific passion a reality.
